The SCDC is currently accepting applications for fall internships and fellowships.
Applicants for both should have an interest in public service, politics and government.
The Somerset County Democratic Committee is seeking highly-motivated individuals for our Executive Fellowship Program. This fellowship will give the applicant an opportunity to take a leadership role in the party, gain hands on experience in the political world, and build a resume that will allow them to work within the political process in the future.
Fellows will be expected to work 12-20 hours per week, and will be assigned leadership roles on projects like fundraisers, candidate events, press events, and campaign related projects, as per the needs of the party. The fellowship is unpaid, but we will work with you on getting school credit and finding additional opportunities beyond the scope of the fellowship. Fellows will report to the Executive Director.
The Somerset County Democratic Committee Internship Program will give the selected applicant an opportunity to be introduced to politics and the political process. Interns will have the opportunity work with campaigns, work with peers to complete tasks, and learn skills to help Democrats win state-wide, county-wide, and local elections.
Interns will be expected to work 5-10 hours per week, with expanded hours possible in the summer, and will have the opportunity to work on projects and tasks that match their interests and goals moving forward. Interns will learn skills in areas such as communications, social media, scheduling, event planning and other areas that will benefit the party and our candidates. The internship is unpaid, but we will work with you on getting school credit and finding additional opportunities beyond the scope of the internship. Interns will report to the Executive Director.
Many volunteer opportunities exist for those unable to commit to either program.
